Natural Dog Food- The Best Way To Feed A Dog

Dog food is specifically formulated for the canine diet. It can be made of either plant or animal material. Edible dog treats are not the main course, but are usually distributed as a reward or motivational tool during training. Many people prefer to make homemade natural dog food, with others choose to buy commercially prepared canned or bagged dog food at a grocery or pet store.

People give different suggestions on what is best for dogs. Some people argue that dogs are better off with the leftovers and scraps left by the owners and that the commercial dog foods contain poor-quality meats, additives and other ingredients dogs should not ingest, or that commercial dog food is not nutritionally sufficient for dogs.

It is always best to give a well-balanced diet to your dog for regular health. But many people do not know what a healthy balanced diet is for a dog, and whether natural dog food is healthier. While you choose a natural dog food, keep the following in mind:

Dogs main source of nutrients come from eating meat. If a dog's diet is high in grains and carbohydrates they are not getting the necessary nutrients. This kind of diet also leads to overweight dogs and dogs with allergies. Feed your dog meat and you will have a healthy dog.

The dehydrated raw food can be eaten alone or with a raw food or along with other diet made at home. Traditional cooked or processed foods differ from dehydrated food. The dehydrated foods of Honest Kitchen should be hydrated with warm water before they are served.

Yet another high level, organic, oven-roasted pet food product is Flint River dog food. It is cooked in a stove to rigorously monitored specifications. This means that it ends up healthier, tastier, and more digestible. Oven roasting converts difficult to digest starch into highly digestible dextrin, which a dog's digestive tract can easily absorb.

It has been proven that dog food that has been overly processed loses nutrients. You should be on the lookout for dog foods that are minimally processed. Meat and bones or other raw foods can be found at the market or pet store. Freeze dried foods are also good to feed your dog because the process of freeze drying tends to retain the nutrients in the food.

Dry dog food, also called kibble, is the most popular kind of dog food. It is also the easiest and most inexpensive to feed. But most kibble is far from the healthiest food to feed your dog. Always read the label to make sure that meat and not grains are the primary source of protein. Human grade whole meat such a chicken, beef, or lamb is the best, and should be listed first on the ingredient label. And just because a meat ingredient appears first does not mean it is the main ingredient. If the next two or more ingredients are grains, then the total grain content is very likely higher than the meat content.

Add vegetables and fruits to your dog's diet. While added to the diet they add the needed nutrients and antioxidants. Try to bring variety in your dog's diet. You can do this by rotating different dog foods or by mixing different brands or flavors together.

A dog food comes in many different varieties. Natural dog food, which is dog food made up of ingredients bought from the grocery or health-food stores, or regular dog food which can be purchased in any grocery or pet store, and then there is food that is given as a reward and that is called dog treats. The dehydrated foods of Honest Kitchen should be hydrated with warm water before they are served. A high level, organic, oven-baked pet food product is Flint River dog food. It is cooked in a stove to rigorously monitored specifications. This means that it ends up healthier, tastier, and more digestible.
